Data from salivary gland proteome analysis of female Aedes aegypti Linn

چکیده
Salivary gland proteins from female Aedes aegypti mosquito were extracted and analyzed on high-resolution mass spectrometry. Proteomic data was analysed using two search algorithms SEQUEST and Mascot, which results in acquisition of 83,836 spectra which were assigned to 5417 peptides belonging to 1208 proteins. These proteins were then assigned molecular functions and further analysis revealed biological processes they are involved in using Gene Ontology annotations. Several immunity related pathways were found to be enriched in salivary gland. The data of this study are also related to the research article "Mosquito-Borne Diseases and Omics: Salivary gland proteome of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito" (Dhawan et al., 2017) [1]. These data are deposited in ProteomeXchange in the public dataset PXD002468. In addition,a scientific interpretation of this dataset by Dhawan et al. [1] is available at http://dx.doi.org/10.1089/journal.omi.2016.0160.

Dengue Virus Infection of the Aedes aegypti Salivary Gland and Chemosensory Apparatus Induces Genes that Modulate Infection and Blood-Feeding Behavior
The female Aedes aegypti salivary gland plays a pivotal role in bloodmeal acquisition and reproduction, and thereby dengue virus (DENV) transmission. It produces numerous immune factors, as well as immune-modulatory, vasodilatory, and anti-coagulant molecules that facilitate blood-feeding. To assess the impact of DENV infection on salivary gland physiology and function, we performed a comparati...
متن کاملCharacterization of the adult Aedes aegypti early midgut peritrophic matrix proteome using LC-MS
The Aedes aegypti mosquito is the principal vector of arboviruses such as dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, and Zika virus. These arboviruses are transmitted during adult female mosquito bloodfeeding. While these viruses must transverse the midgut to replicate, the blood meal must also reach the midgut to be digested, absorbed, or excreted, as aggregation of blood meal metabolites can be toxic...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Analysis of Aedes aegypti Based on Mitochondrial ND4 Gene Sequences in Almadinah, Saudi Arabia
Background: Aedes aegypti is the main vector of the yellow fever and dengue virus. This mosquito has become the major indirect cause of morbidity and mortality of the human worldwide. Dengue virus activity has been reported recently in the western areas of Saudi Arabia. There is no vaccine for dengue virus until now, and the control of the disease depends on the control of the vector. Objectiv...
متن کاملA Deep Insight into the Sialome of Male and Female Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes
Only adult female mosquitoes feed on blood, while both genders take sugar meals. Accordingly, several compounds associated with blood feeding (i.e. vasodilators, anti-clotting, anti-platelets) are found only in female glands, while enzymes associated with sugar feeding or antimicrobials (such as lysozyme) are found in the glands of both sexes. We performed de novo assembly of reads from adult A...
متن کامل5-hydroxytryptamine in the salivary glands of adult female Aedes aegypti and its role in regulation of salivation.
A dense plexus of axons, immunoreactive to antisera against 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin) and surrounding the proximal medial lobe of the salivary gland of adult female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, was demonstrated by means of whole-mount fluorescence immunocytochemistry. This innervation originates in the stomatogastric nervous system. 5-HT-immunoreactive innervation is absent in male sal...
